Heerea Kaur Rikhraj is a multimedia journalist for New Mexico In Depth, a non-profit investigative site. She is a recent graduate of Columbia Journalism School, where she covered Indigenous issues, labor, health and climate. In March 2023, she reported  from Israel and Palestine.

 

She also self-produced a six series podcast titled The Incomplete Truth about health equity in Canada. Prior to journalism, she worked in various non-profits as a consultant, and managed a $5 million education program. She also founded the Global Engineering Challenge, an engineering program that runs at the University of Toronto for high-school kids.

Heerea is currently based in New York City and has roots in Vancouver, Toronto and Singapore.
